Wildlife
Through years of research and tracking animals,
biologists have declared this area to be a migratory path of
species between the different national parks such as Corcovado National Park (Parque Nacional Corcovado), located close to our Villas Corcovado Lodge. This is part
of the path called Mesoamerican Biological Corridor renowned
for being one of the most biologically diverse places on earth.
"The tropical zones, between the 23° and 27° Latitudes North
and South exhibit the most complex ecosystems on the earth
". Guía del sendero Heliconia, Fundación Neotrópica. (www.neotropica.org)
Guests can expect to see a wide variety of species including, dolphins, macaws, parrots, toucans, monkeys, frogs, snakes, butterflies, pizotes, sloths, eagles, vultures, hawks, rays, tepezcuintles and many more. Unlikely to be seen, jaguars are also part of our fauna, unfortunately in danger of extinction. Humpback and Pilot whales visit Golfo Dulce from July to November to give birth and feed their offsprings and sometimes are seen near Villas Corcovado.
Our Environmental Commitment
Villas Corcovado is a unique destination with a strong dedication
to nurturing the native wildlife and
caring for the neighboring habitat. An extensive environmental
impact study was conducted before the hotel was built in order
to protect the land and the animals.
We are conscious of the importance of our role to help conserve the environment and to contribute with the well-being of local people. We embrace this task with pride and responsibility.
